Claire’s cottage is well appointed, cosy, comfortable and very peaceful. It has the most extraordinary view and sitting on the swing with a cuppa was a highlight of our trip.... read more

Absolutely stunning little cottage set up with wide epic views, the place was super clean when we arrived and the documentation that Claire left was clear and helpful. Being able... read more to use the fire to make it cosy in the evenings just made the stay really nice. It's so quiet during the day and night, you can sit out on the bench or swing, read and admire the incredible views.
Our two kids loved it too, especially chatting to the horses nearby.
Location is good, you're pretty close to some bigger places like Dumfries and Claire did a great job of recommending some decent beaches and attractions, we had some ideas because we've been up before but something we'd not considered, the lead mine tour ended being one of the most unexpected best days out!
I'll be looking to book again for just the misses and I to escape again later this year.
Thanks again.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Claire's cosy cottage. It is situated in the middle of fields, cows and a pony. We loved to sit on the swing and... read more enjoy the wonderful view downhill. The peace and tranquility of this place is amazing.
The house is equipped with everything you could think of. So many bits and pieces in the kitchen - from cork screw to juice jug or various casseroles and lots of knives. Everything you need is there. Tea and biscuits just added to the lovely welcome.
We liked the two bathrooms very much. A tub for the children and a shower that even us tall people were able to stand comfortably in! A very rare find I must say 😀
Since we were travelling with two little children Claire even put up a black out blind in the childrens room and added a high chair to the breakfast room as well as a fender for the children's safety in front of the fireplace. So much appreciated all this!
The children loved to run around the garden and watch the cows that came near the fence. We quite missed them when they were moved to a different field after some days 😀
Our daughter learned to cycle on the little road in front of the house and we absolutely enjoyed many walking tours in the area - especially along the river Nith. Also we would recommend the adventure playground at Drumlanrig castle and (for the rainier days) Dalscone farm fun (indoor playground).
The internet speed was better than we'd have imagined. It used to switch on and off for a couple of days though but after Claire telephoned the operator it became more stable again.
Claire was always at hand when we needed advice and answered all our text messages very quickly. We met her a few times outside the house and had some nice chats.
The house is traditional and modern at the same time. A place that we can absolutely recommend!

We had a wonderful relaxing break at Croftjane Cottage.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed.
Scottish Spring treated us to every kind... read more of weather during our stay (freezing and rainy one day then warm sunshine the next!) and the cottage was perfect for all conditions, warm and welcoming with its amazing log burner on a cold day and the garden was perfect to sit out and enjoy the sunshine.
The views were panoramic and spectacular and the location was so quiet and peaceful and perfect to escape the stresses of life.
Our highlights were watching the Red Kiites circling above the cottage and star gazing in the wonderfully clear skies in the evening.
Claire was a lovely host, friendly and accommodating.
We could not have asked for a nicer break and we can't wait to visit again.

We had such a comfortable stay here. The accommodation was great and we felt very well catered for with the facilities. Really handy having a dishwasher and washing machine. Loved... read more watching the horses in the fields and just looking bout at the amazing views. Even our teens were in awe of the views. Great location from which to explore the area. Wish we had booked a longer stay to enjoy the accommodation even more. Thank you.
