The set up of the house is grand and... read more very close to Drumlanrig Castle, its trails, and not too far from 7-stanes. In the Galloway Part of D&G, Galloway Forest Park dark skies are renowned in a light polluted world.
There is a couple of closeby villages Thornhill (largest with all essential local services) and Penpont (eating). There are nice walks and a coastal drive 50mins south that a local promised me took in some spectacular views . I hope to go back.

We definitely recommend spending there more than a few days, also to discover the area, where there is so much to do and explore!
